Why do so many remodeling sales calls end up with the usual

Contrary to popular belief, not every sales call requires repeated calls and time consuming proposals. In fact, the minute you leave a prospect without a signed order your chance of getting the sale rapidly diminishes. Why? Simply because in many cases prospects use delays as procrastinating tactics. Once you leave, their interest level drops and in many cases they won't even take your call the second time around.

A recent survey of 2,000 remodeling salespeople found that nearly 50 percent of their sales calls ended without asking for the order! Only thirty five percent asked for an order one time, then accepted whatever excuse was offered by the prospect and left.
